This is an AIARE certified level 1 avalanche course consisting of three evening lectures at the Mountaineers clubhouse in Seattle, and a two day field trip based out of the Mountaineers Baker Lodge at the Mount Baker ski area (lodging costs for Saturday night ARE included, see below for more information). Avalanche Safety Level 2. Our AIARE 2 course provides higher level backcountry training and advances avalanche decision-making skills. The AIARE 2 is a three-day course for those who have taken an AIARE 1 and Avalanche Rescue and have had at least a year of backcountry travel experience. AIARE is an approved avalanche education provider and takes the guidelines developed by AAA and has developed rigorous, standardized training and curriculum for both pro courses and rec courses which is evidence-based. This is exactly why SOLE chose the AIARE avalanche education program. The AIARE Level 2 has been redesigned to meet the needs of advanced recreational backcountry users that have previously taken both the AIARE Level 1 and the AIARE Avalanche Rescue Course.
